The sixth edition of the Days of the Open Churches took place on Saturday, June 1st and Sunday, June 2, 2013. The general theme was "Heritage in colour". 500 places of worship opened their doors and welcomed visitors with a variety of festivities. 300 places organised activities such as a guided tour, a bicycle excursion, a quest or a concert. Besides the familiar Catholic churches; Protestant, Anglican and Orthodox churches could be visited as well.
The Open Church Days prove that our religious heritage still inspires and interests the population. Nowadays churches are unfortunately increasingly being closed. Around 65 000 visitors seized the opportunity to visit and admire our religious heritage. 270 'Open churches' remain accessible during the rest of summer.
