Large crowds for the successful 7th edition of Open Church Days.
The 7th edition of Open Church Days, which took place over the weekend of the 31st May to 1st June, attracted about 85000 people in Belgium. The theme of the event this year, due to the centenary of the First World War, was “Souvenirs of 14-18”.
More than 500 religious venues opened their doors that weekend and 300 of them offered various activities such as visits, concerts, walks and exhibitions. It seems to have been more successful in Wallonie where some churches received several hundred visitors. The Grand Duchy of Luxemburg participated for the first time this year opening about fifty religious buildings to the public.
The next Open Church Days will be on the 6th and 7th June 2015 (Belga).
