Tournai is one of the oldest towns in Belgium. It played an important historic, economic, religious and cultural role in the county of Flanders and in the French monarchy during the Middle Ages.
The Belfry, the oldest in Belgium, and Notre Dame Cathedral are both registered as an UNESCO world heritage site. The imposing Romanesque and Gothic cathedral is renowned for its five towers and for its treasure.
Tournai is known as the town of five towers (four without bells) and 400 bells, referring to the numerous churches and chapels that surround the cathedral.
In following this treasure hunt over about 2km 600, you will discover the architectural and furnishing gems of the principal churches of Tournai.
Here is a quiz in the form of a multiple choice questionnaire. If you answer all the questions correctly and you transfer them to the final table you will find the name of one of the first bishops of Tournai.
